Constance R. Morris of Southampton died February 23 at Southampton Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 93, and had been actively caring for her family, her home and herself up until the moment of her hospitalization.
Born in Glen Cove to Clarence and Mary (Miller) Relyea, she had been a resident of Southampton for nearly 50 years. She loved to draw and paint, was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and traveling.
A lifelong artist, Mrs. Morris was active in the local arts community, including memberships with the Water Mill Museum, the Mixed Mediums, the East End Arts Council, and the Parrish Art Museum. She was one of the first members of the Southampton Artists Association and remained active in the organization until her death.
Mrs. Morris was predeceased by her husband, John; and a son, John Jr.; granddaughter Jenna; sister Jane; and four brothers, Bernard, Gerard, Francis, and Robert.
She is survived by a son, Robert and wife Susan; six grandchildren, Lelania, Melanie, Diana, Kristina, Alicia and Kaitlin; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and 19 nieces and nephews.
A gathering will be held on Sunday, May 1, at the Southampton Cultural Center from noon to 4 p.m.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck.
