Proud Southpointers are we, boasting Coopers Beach as number 1, 2 or 3!
For years it has ranked among Americas best beaches to be.
We have come for years, since our kids were tots,
And continue to do so amid the crowded parking lot.
With chairs, umbrellas and coolers in tow, we have few complaints, as we bask in the sun’s glorious glow.
But after spending the day at the magnificent sea, we have not a pot in which to pee!
The restrooms are locked at various times of week or day,
“The village is responsible,” or so they say.
And as we eat our lunch with our toes in the sand,
There is no pail to dispose of our garbage bag.
The waste cans are removed at the stroke of 3,
And we are made to journey to the parking lot to dispose of our debris.
We want our dunes protected and the piping plover to have a place to nest,
But our village does nothing to educate our guests.
Some signage, perhaps, would do the trick and may even protect one from being bit by a tick!
So, this is our conundrum at our beautiful Coopers Beach.
Southampton Village can do better — and that should not be a reach!
