The Westhampton Beach High School Class of 1980 will celebrate its 45th reunion the weekend of October 24 with events planned for alumni and friends. Festivities begin Friday evening at 6 p.m. at the high school football field, where classmates will gather to cheer on the Hurricanes during a home game. A post-game gathering will follow at the Westhampton Beach Brewing Company. On Saturday, October 25, the celebration continues with bagels on the beach from 10 a.m. to noon. In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, the Southampton History Museum will present “Echoes of Nagasaki – Remembering the Past, Shaping a Peaceful Future” on Saturday, August 9, at noon at Veterans Memorial Hall on Pond Lane in Southampton. The Hope for Depression Research Foundation (HDRF) will mark the 10th anniversary of its annual Race of Hope to Defeat Depression on Sunday, August 3, in Southampton Village. Southampton Town Police are warning drivers of possible delays as roads are closed in Hampton Bays on Wednesday, July 30, for the annual Hampton Bays Fire Department parade. The parade will take place at 7 p.m., roads along the parade route will be closed from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Ponquogue Avenue will be closed between Montauk Highway and Lynncliff Road, and Montauk Highway will be closed from Bittersweet South Extension to Flanders Road (SR24). Traffic will be detoured around the road closures. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area during the times.
