Cynthia Blaine Fecteau of Hampton Bays died peacefully at home on July 28. She was 90.

She was born in New York City on April 13, 1934, to Curtis A. and Mary A. (McPhail) Blaine.

In her youth, she worked in the bridal shop and modeled for Macy’s department store in New York City. Her later administrative career included working at Southampton Town Hall, as admissions director at Southampton Hospital, and, after retirement, as the director of Southampton College’s CCR Program.

She found joy in cooking great meals, sharing her life with her dogs, and was a lifelong avid reader, always on the search for another great murder mystery.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert C. Fecteau; and her son, William C. LaGrua. She is survived by her children, John C. and Catherine LaGrua of Hampton Bays and Cynthia L. Trotta of Branford, Connecticut; her husband’s six children; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A private, family celebration of her life is being planned.

In her remembrance, donations may be made to the Hampton Bays Public Library (hamptonbayslibrary.org) or to the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (southamptonanimalshelter.com).
