Cynthia Tuckerman Gay, formerly of Southampton, died at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts, on October 1. She was 89.
Ms. Gay was the daughter of the late Roger and Betty Tuckerman of New York and Southampton. She grew up in New York City and attended the Brearley School before graduating from Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Connecticut.
In 1965, she joined the New York firm of Douglas Elliman-Gibbons & Ives as a real estate broker. In 1977, as a senior vice president, she opened and managed a branch office of that firm on Meeting House Lane in Southampton. She later joined Sotheby’s Realty on Nugent Street before retiring in 2005.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Gay, in 1996.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Gay Palmer of Tivoli; two sons, John Gay Jr. of Florida, and Christopher Gay of Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Ruby Palmer, Ethan Palmer and Angela Gay; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Nancy Tuckerman; and a brother, Roger W. Tuckerman.
A memorial service well be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Southampton on Saturday, October 18, at 11 a.m.
