Dean Davis Monaco Jr. of East Dorset, Vermont, the son of Dr. Dean and Cynthia Monaco of Hampton Bays, died on Tuesday, April 8, following a long battle with cancer. He was 41.
Mr. Monaco was the assistant manager of The Wilson House in Vermont, where he started out as a volunteer 14 years ago.
He was a graduate of Hampton Bays High School and Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Monaco is survived by a brother, Keith and his wife Laura of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; a niece, Regina; a nephew, Benjamin; two aunts, Diane Field of Syosset ?and Thelma “Teddy” Semlear of Sag Harbor and Florida; an uncle, Kurt Field of Syosset; and five cousins, Valerie Field, Beverly Fielding, Robert and Jon Semlear of Sag Harbor, and Teddy Ann ?Allman.
A wake and funeral service were held at the Congregational Church in East Dorset on April 10, with Pastor Larry Jenney and the Reverend Scott Neal officiating.
A wake was also held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on April 12, including firematic services by the Hampton Bays Fire Department and its chaplain, Father Dan Harris, in honor of Mr. Monaco, whose father is an honorary member. Pastor John Kenreich of Christ Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Hampton Bays officiated at a funeral service on the same day; interment followed at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Wilson House, 378 Village Street, East Dorset, Vermont 05253 would be appreciated by the family.
