Deirdre A. Towle, known as “Dede” to family and friends, of East Quogue died on August 10, 2019. She was 64.
Ms. Towle graduated with honors from Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, earning an associate’s degree in business administration. She went on to graduate from Southampton College in May 1975.
In October 1976, she married James Towle at the Bellport Country Club. The couple began their married life in Center Moriches and then moved to West Bayshore, where their two boys, Christopher and Kevin, were born. In 1993 they moved to East Quogue. The boys were actively involved in a variety of sports throughout their childhood with their mother always on the sidelines cheering them on. Her boys were her pride and joy, survivors said.
A dedicated teacher’s aide in Westhampton Beach for 20 years, she known as caring and compassionate. She greeted everyone with a warm smile. Survivors described her as a bright light, always giving to others, adding that she spread love to others through her kind gestures.
She was predeceased by her father, John T. Bates. She is survived by her mother, Nona Bates; her husband, James; her sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Emily Towle and Kevin and Amy Towle; her grandson, Nicholas Towle; and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Maria Bates.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Werner Rothwell Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
