The debate on the immigration reform bill continues in these pages and is no closer to resolution.
Not unexpectedly, the liberal voices continue with the risible notion that it is solely a political stunt to scuttle the flawed law, while ignoring the merits for its defeat. Proponents parrot the compliant shills of the mainstream media but ignore the obvious: The bill was designed to facilitate the continued overwhelming influx of immigrants, only in a more orderly fashion, including the more rapid transport of these trespassers to their ultimate destinations.
Mainstream media would have us believe that those who did not sanction this hypocrisy were, in fact, responsible for the dilemma that the Democrats created in the first place with the open border policy of the Biden administration. They then continue the gaslighting by coupling this insidiously transparent policy with a massive aid package to help finance two wars in a clear attempt to blame the Republican Party for aiding Russia and hurting Israel.
The left has been applauding open borders since before President Joe Biden took office, and it is his policies that have opened the door to the unsustainable surge that resulted from his dismantling of his predecessor’s policies by executive order. Trump had already fixed the problem; no laws were changed.
Trump executive orders shut down the illegal invasion of immigrants that had been allowed access, then disbursement, by the catch-and-release policy begun under Barack Obama. It wasn’t until the major blue states, with their liberal policies, became inundated with immigrants when the border states shipped the trespassers to blue state sanctuary cities that the Democratic Party finally woke up that there may be a problem. Very inconvenient during an election year.
The delicious irony here is palpable, but it escapes all those in support of the flawed law that was being rammed down our throats.
According to one recent tally, Border Patrol has had over 7 million encounters at the Mexican border since Biden took office, and that ignores everyone who wasn’t stopped or caught. Considering there are only 16 more populous states, that is an eye-opening number and a huge burden on any state that must absorb them. Put another way, 34 states have fewer resident citizens.
President Biden and company have openly beckoned them into our nation without consequence. Border Patrol agents are demoralized; many are complaining of being nothing more than Uber drivers shuttling immigrants to processing and housing.
In bizarro Biden world, his administration has filed an emergency request with the Supreme Court arguing that the razor wire installed by the Texas National Guard to impede the trespassers is hindering Border Patrol efforts to carry out their duties.
Go figure.
