Desiree Wells Kirchner Dies November 17

Desiree Wells Kirchner died November 17 at her home. She was 40.

Kirchner was born October 23, 1981, and spent her formative years in Eastport, and graduating from Eastport High School in 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Jordyn, and sons Dylan and Gavyn; her mother, Debra Frey; her father, Douglas (Jean) Wells; a brother, Derek (Marikate) Wells; her aunt, Deanna Frey (Ed Gabrielson); cousin Nathaniel Frey (Ashley) and their son Colton; cousin Melissa Locrotondo (Dan) and their daughter Maci. She is survived also by numerous extended family members and friends, many of whom she had known since childhood.

A memorial visitation will be held at Moloney-Sinnicksons Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Saturday, December 4, from 1 to 5 p.m.

I am writing in response to the recent multi-page Q&A article, “School Board Member: Students Shortchanged,” published in The Southampton Press on July 3. The piece presents a narrative about the Southampton School Board that is, at best, incomplete and at worst, misleading. A Blight

Southampton Town now has four ugly, blighted properties: 7Zs Swimming Pool, Bel-Aire Cove Motel property, Getty gas station and the former Casa Basso Restaurant. The first three have been vacant for many years. They are a blight on our community. They look like Superfund sites. Casa Basso was purchased recently. Three decades ago, after writing about people undergoing severe cases of Lyme disease in Suffolk County, I chose to get shots of a vaccine that had just become available designed to prevent the disease happening after a bite of a Lyme-carrying tick.
