Diane Theresa Kandula of Southampton died on December 30 at her home in Southampton. She was 81.

Ms. Kandula was born in Poland to Antoni and Jadwiga Bartoszewicz on October 9, 1939. She came to the United States when she was 12.

Ms. Kandula worked for many years for a couple of families doing cleaning and cooking and was always ironing on her giant mangle. She worked for the Udell family of New York City and Southampton for 30-plus years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and collecting anything that looked like a “piggy.”

She is survived by her children, John “Dusty” Kandula of Southampton, Theresa Westerhoff of Southampton, Mary Parker of Riverhead and Elizabeth Holdsworth of Southampton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie Speraw (Joseph) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Scott Holdsworth of Southampton, Dyan Westerhoff, and Christopher Holdsworth; two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Nova Holdsworth of Sag Harbor; her brother Alfred Bartoszewicz (Sandra) of Manorville; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Anthony J. Bartoszewicz Jr. of Ohio.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 3, followed by a private family cremation. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Brockett’s Funeral Home.
