Disenfranchised

My first foray into an election booth was at the age of 8, and I was taught that it was my duty and obligation to vote in all elections. If I didn’t vote, I didn’t have the opportunity to complain.

So when I knew that I wouldn’t be able to vote live, I went online and requested an absentee ballot. I had done so previously once before.

Alas, the absentee ballot never got to me, and I didn’t see what recourse I had. I waited until last Saturday, and then had to accept the fact that none was coming.

Whom I would’ve voted for is nobody’s business — but the missing absentee ballot should be everybody’s business.

As far as I can see, I was disenfranchised through no fault of my own.
