Dispelling Rumors

I was disappointed to hear that several people have been spreading rumors about my candidacy for Southampton Village trustee, specifically in regards to my support for the police.

So here’s the truth: I think Southampton’s first responders are some of the best people I’ve met, and they will always have my full support, whether I am elected trustee or not. Anything else you hear is just someone’s poor attempt to badmouth me in order to hold on to power.

I have family members who serve as police officers throughout New York State — they’d disown me if I tried to defund the police!

The bigger issue here is that, as residents, we have an important decision to make about the future of our village: Give one party full control over the Board of Trustees (all four seats!), or elect two independent voices — myself and Joe McLoughlin — who will bring balance to the board and do what’s best for the village, not the developers.

That means cleaning up Lake Agawam, revitalizing Main Street, creating more affordable housing instead of more McMansions, and making sure all of our first responders have the resources they need, always.

Regardless of the rumors, I believe that we all can and should work together. As trustee, I promise to never forget who I work for (all of you!), to listen to both sides and to find common ground. If anyone has questions about my stances on the issues, I’d love to have a conversation. Please feel free to contact me at gina4shvtrustee@gmail.com.
