After reading John Avlon’s “Viewpoint” [“Frustrated? Here Are Three Things You Can Do,” Opinion, July 3], Suffolk County was so right in not electing a candidate who projects misery, because the American voters see things differently than he does. Democrats seem to think democracy only works if they win — otherwise, its called fascism.
John, you and the Democratic Party are not victims. The Democratic Party is dead in America. The fact that the Democratic Party elected a communist in New York City to represent the party is the cherry on top. America is not about free stuff — it’s about opportunity.
The “No Kings” protests are a joke, considering that the Democratic Party wanted to pick the candidate, not the American people. Talk about hypocrisy.
Donald Trump was elected by popular vote and a huge electoral vote. The last election wasn’t even close, and if it was held again tomorrow he would still win.
The legacy media has been exposed as a tool to your very party, and despite having the press on your side you still lost the last election.
So, John, keep up the resistance, keep protesting, put more radical socialists up for election. I’m sure your party will have much success.
The truth is, your party has no desire to cross partisan lines. The recent “Big, Beautiful Bill” was passed without a single Democrat supporting it.
But, Mr. Avlon, what if the party actually worked with the administration? They most likely could have passed the Dream Act, which would have given millions a pathway to citizenship, but instead the fight is more important than the outcome, and that is why your party failed and will continue to fail.
Falsehoods, lawfare, name-calling, protests and riots aren’t what Americans want. The party that supports open borders, men in women’s sports and transgender surgery for minors is not going to win national elections.
The citizens of Suffolk County truly dodged the bullet in not electing you, Mr. Avlon. We have too many petulant children in Congress now. We certainly didn’t need another one representing Suffolk County.
