Donald Zaloom of Westhampton Beach, who ran the Orient Shop on Main Street for many years, died at the Westhampton Care Center on Saturday, June 28. He was 81.
Mr. Zaloom was born in Westhampton Beach on December 15, 1926. He was a member of the Westhampton Beach Fire Department for more than 30 years, an emergency medical technician for the Westhampton Beach Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and later became a part-time school crossing guard.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Feil and her husband Jim of Wading River; and three step-grandchildren, Stacey, Jimmy and Christopher.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bernadette, and a daughter, Elyse Goldberg.
A wake and firematic prayer services were held at the Follett and Werner Funeral Home on June 29. A funeral mass was held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Quiogue on June 30. Interment followed at the Westhampton Cemetery.
