Don’t Be Biased

My husband and I moved to Sag Harbor 17 years ago from Nassau County. We decided to order your newspaper in order to be up to date on the activities on the East End. We are boaters as well, and belong to the Sag Harbor Yacht Club. It made sense to order your paper instead of Newsday, which we had delivered in Nassau.

I am very disappointed in your paper recently. You are becoming a Democratic enabler in your editorials and other writers’ meanderings, i.e., Phil Keith. I am an independent, not a conservative like him, but whenever he writes in your paper, I actually feel nauseated.

I was about to cancel my subscription, but my husband said, “Ignore the paper’s recent leanings!” When your editorial blasted Lee Zeldin [“Reality Check,” Editorial, December 17], that’s when I actually almost lost my cool.

He is a patriot and as a Republican congressman has every right to stand behind his president. If he believes the election was illegitimate, it is his right to feel this way and to let us know his findings. Wouldn’t you want to know if it was the other way around?

I know of many people who were sent duplicate “mail-in ballots” two months prior to the election. My neighbor, who lives full-time in Port Washington, received three of those ballots at her summer home. Another friend, who has lived in her apartment for two years, received two of those ballots addressed to the former owner, who passed away over two years ago. I know of many others that this has happened to.

If this has happened to the people I know, it has to have happened all over our country. And a mail-in ballot being allowed after Election Day? What has our country turned into, a banana republic?

Since I am not canceling my subscription, please try to be a little more unbiased in your paper’s writings! In communist countries, other opinions are not allowed, other than the state’s.

Try writing about Dominion voting machines, Smartmatic, Scytl, and the multiple software errors across the country, especially with your coverage of Rep. Zeldin’s beliefs in the voting errors he believes happened across the country.
