Dorothy A. Liggon of Riverhead and formerly of Quogue died on Saturday, July 5, at her home. She was 81.
Born on January 1, 1928, to Rose and Frank Mills, she graduated from Westhampton Beach High School and later worked at the Westhampton Nursing Home and as a private duty home health aide for several years.
She is survived by her 11 children and their spouses, Norma Boyd of North Carolina, Doris and Charles Taylor of Riverhead, Linda Smith Woodson of Riverhead, Rose Smith of Mastic, Cynthia and Jerome Trent of Riverhead, Karen and Mark Havens of Bayshore, Barbara and Michael Liggon, and Kenneth and Susie Smith of Ridge, Curtis Roger Liggon of Riverhead, Donald and Linda Liggon of Mastic, John and Cathy Liggon of Riverhead; a stepson and his wife, Russell and Barbara Jones of Riverhead; a brother, Eldridge Mills of Quogue; her sisters-in-law, Mabel Lewis and Elizabeth Liggon of Cartersville, Virginia; 28 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Alice Pettaway. She was predeceased by her husband, Curtis Junior Liggon.
A wake was held on Wednesday, July 8, at the Follett & Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 9, at the First Baptist Church in Riverhead, with the Reverend Marvin Dozier officiating. Interment followed at the Westhampton Cemetery.
