Douglas Jayne of East Quogue died at his home on March 5, after a long illness. He was 72.
Born on September 26, 1943, in Bay Shore, he was the son of Walter and Bernice Jayne. He graduated from Patchogue High School in 1961, and worked as a commercial fisherman on the East End. He was an ex-captain and 47-year member of the Hampton Bays Fire Department, a member of the Hampton Bays Fire Department Benevolent Association, and a member of the Long Island Sound Lobstermen’s Association.
Mr. Jayne is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth (Fasce); and three sons, Gregg D. Jayne and wife Kathryn of Florida, Brian Jayne of Hampton Bays and Kenny Jayne of Remsenburg; and six grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Kenneth, Steven, Sarah and Lindsay.
A funeral, including firematic services, took place at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. Cremation was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
