Douglas M. Nolan died on August 20 in Watertown, New York. He was 65 years old.
Mr. Nolan was the son of James and Rena Nolan of Southampton, who predeceased him, and he was born with a developmental disability. After the death of his parents, he was cared for by the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center in Watertown. For many years he was cared for by Dot and Ray Burke of Antwerp, New York. Upon the passing of Dot Burke, Mr. Nolan resided in group homes in Sacketts Harbor and Watertown, where he received the best of care. Though he faced many adversities in his life, he always managed to have a smile on his face, and those who knew him were touched by his positive spirit.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nolan was predeceased by a brother, John, from San Jose, California. He is survived by another brother, Ronald, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Graveside services will be held September 12 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Southampton.
