Dr. Ralph Brancaccio Of Southampton Dies May 25

Dr. Ralph H. Brancaccio died at his home in

Southampton on May 25. He was 96.

Born in Brooklyn, Dr. Brancaccio received degrees from

Columbia University and Long Island College of Medicine, now the Downstate Medical School. Following four years of military service during World War II, he entered a residency in radiology, receiving board certification in that field. Later he was awarded a fellowship in the American College of Radiology. As an early solo practitioner, he practiced his chosen specialty for more than 40 years. In addition, he was an active member of the Bay Ridge Medical Society, the Brooklyn Radiological Society and the American College of Radiology Peer Review Board. He also served on the staff of several hospitals. Upon retirement he became an honorary member of the staff of Southampton Hospital.

Dr. Brancaccio is remembered by survivors for his love of the community in Southampton, which started as his summer home in the 1950s.

Predeceased by his wife, Alma, Dr. Brancaccio is survived by his sons, Dr. Ronald Brancaccio and wife Suzen of New York and Dr. William Brancaccio and wife Lydia of Water Mill; a daughter, Elaine Arace and husband August of New York; and four

grandchildren, William, Christopher, Suzanne and Claudia.

He is also survived by a brother, Dr. Armand Brancaccio and wife Caroline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was at O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton and a funeral Mass was said at Our Lady of Poland in Southampton.
