The Arts Center at Duck Creek invites all to its “celebration of collaboration and community” at the second annual DRAWaTHON fundraiser on Friday, August 16.
To mark the 100th anniversary of Surrealism, artists have been invited to create “Exquisite Corpse” drawings for the exhibition and sale. The Exquisite Corpse is a game popularized by surrealists like Max Ernst and Andre Breton in the 1930s, in which each artist executes one section of a drawing without seeing their fellow collaborator’s contributions. More than 100 artists have already begun working on corpse drawings.
The benefit event will honor former East Hampton Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc, who provided the leadership and support that brought the Arts Center at Duck Creek to fruition.
Tickets are $150 and include early access to view the affordable collaborative drawings, which cost $250, by Duck Creek and local artists. There will also be light fare, drinks, and live music.
