Duped

Let me recap former President Donald Trump’s campaign strategy of the past few weeks:

At the Mar-a-Lago “press conference,” he ridiculed and disparaged his opponent and repeatedly lied — 162 times in 60 minutes, according to NPR. His emphasis was fear-mongering as he repeatedly said the country was going down the drain in every possible way, and he was the only one who could save it.

Then there was the Elon Musk “interview.” He disparaged his opponents, raged about conspiracy theories, lied, etc., etc., etc. More of the same. For a finale, he insulted unions.

The Bedminster “press conference” — this time, he decided props would somehow help. They didn’t — it was a disaster. For that finale, he insulted the military.

At his few rallies, the same old stuff, while consistently, repeatedly, insulting his opponents.

Nothing has changed. No real policies, except once in a while he’ll come up with a dramatic idea, like the president having input into the Federal Reserve, and everyone goes crazy, and the press carries on about it for a few days. Attention-getting, for sure.

Remember, “We’re going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it”?

Remember, he was gonna “lock up Hillary Clinton”?

And his VP choice? More drama, more silliness.

This is what the Republican Party has come to under Trump. He and his extremist Project 2025 wannabes dominate the party, assuring that serious politicians like Nikki Haley have no place in it.

Years from now, those who support Donald Trump will realize they were duped into believing that he had something to offer America. Except they will never be able to actually remember what that was.
