Get ready, get set, go! But put on your shoppin’ shoes first!
“Mobbers” will descend upon our fair hamlet this Saturday, April 6, as East Quogue’s second annual cash mob once again overtakes Main Street. Shoppers will meet at the Village Green at 3:45 p.m. for their “mob stickers.” After spending $20 at one of our fantastic shops, mobbers can enjoy the high of a great shopping experience over half-priced drinks and snacks at the New Moon Café on Montauk Highway. So go, ladies!
Later on, everyone can kick back and relax at the East Quogue Fire Department’s third annual A Night of Comedy. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the always amazing show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 each. For tickets or information, call (631) 653-5101 or send an email to wattssup@optonline.net.
Congratulations go out this week to East Quogue Elementary School first-graders Taylor Tureski, Bennett Parli, Edgar Arguello and Alexandra Flores who received the Principal’s Choice Award from Principal Robert Long at last week’s Board of Education meeting.
Kudos also go to East Quogue Elementary School fifth-grader Jack Naglieri and sixth-grader Jonathan Mendoza. They were named the school’s Art Students of the Month for February.
And, speaking of our elementary school, it truly is a small world. I just received an email from Peter Shelton, who was very instrumental in seeing that I received the proper care for my shoulder replacement.
Three years ago, he and his wife, Barbara, left our charming hamlet for the warmth of South Carolina. They also wanted to be near their daughters, Becky and Beth, as well as to their two young granddaughters.
Their oldest granddaughter, Ella, is now ready to begin school and while speaking with her principal, Michael Antonelli, it was discovered that he is a graduate of our East Quogue Elementary School, as were Peter’s daughters.
To make it all the more interesting, I’m sure you remember that Barbara was the reading teacher at our East Quogue Elementary School. And, yes, they all still read The Southampton Press!
And, finally, our East Quogue United Methodist Church is going digital. If you would like to receive your copy of the EQUMC Messenger electronically, sign up by emailing eastquogueumc@gmail.com.
