‘Tis the season! So be sure to enjoy the many fantastic holiday events going on this weekend both in and around our hamlet.The Christmas festivities kick off early on Saturday, December 3, at the East Quogue United Methodist Church with the parish’s annual Holly Tea, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shop for the perfect holiday gift at the Christmas table, or just relax and enjoy a fantastic lunch featuring awesome homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts.
Later in the day, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Holiday Open House at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge is the place to be. With lots of fun crafts to entertain the kids, you can enjoy shopping for handmade gifts from local artisans. For more holiday gift-giving there will be a great selection of QWR apparel, as well as fair-trade gift items from the Sobornost for the World Foundation. For a very magical end to a perfect day, enjoy the exhilarating sounds of holiday music at the East Quogue Beautification Committee’s annual holiday tree lighting that takes place at 5 p.m. on the East Quogue Village Green. There’ll be caroling and lots of Christmas camaraderie.
Then on Sunday, December 4, kick back and relax at the third annual Breakfast With Santa hosted by the East Quogue Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. The breakfast runs from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the East Quogue Firehouse on Main Street.
Remember to bring your own camera for a special photo-op with Santa. Tickets for this delicious epicurean event cost $10 for adults and $5 for children age 4 to 11. Kids 3 and under eat for free. For tickets or more information, call Lois at 631-635-4444 or Amee at 631-241-3066.
As you leave the pancake breakfast, don’t forget to buy your Christmas tree, as well as your holiday wreaths and roping, from our East Quogue Fire Department. It’s all right there.
Finally, please remember those in need in our community this holiday season. The East Quogue Adopt-A-Family program is now accepting donations of gift cards, checks or cash that can be dropped off at Roses and Rice on Main Street, or mailed to Lois Holley at P.O. Box 71, East Quogue, NY 11942.
