“East Quogue George” awoke this week from his long winter’s nap and, after patrolling my wildlife garden for some tasty tidbits, willingly posed for pictures, his groundhog head sticking halfway out of the impressive entrance to his McMansion.

The Quogue Library is awesome! Thank you for making my book reading so very special.

Last week was an exciting week for John Fennell. John turned 15 on Tuesday, April 24, and on Saturday, April 28, he made his confirmation at the Church of Saint Rosalie. The Westhampton Beach High School sophomore also plays on the JV baseball team. His mom, Laura, as well as his brother, Ryan, and his sister, Katherine, “are so proud of him!”

And, speaking of birthday wishes, special ones are being sent to Nick Elka from his mom and dad, Mary and Ed, and his sister, Dana. Nick celebrates his 13th birthday on Tuesday, May 8. The seventh-grader attends Westhampton Beach Middle School and enjoys playing basketball, baseball and football.

Many thanks to all of the East Quogue volunteers who participated in the Great East End Clean-Up: Ann Federico, Joan Hughes, Brad, Ellen and Cade Murphree, Mary O’ Brien, and Debby Tennyson. Montauk Highway sparkles!

Becci Mendenhall has scheduled a vendor and craft fair for Saturday, May 26, at the community hall of the East Quogue United Methodist Church. Becci is seeking craftspersons and vendors to participate. The cost of a table is $40 and that money will be donated to the East Quogue Adopt-a-Family program chaired by Lois Holley. For more information, call Becci at 805-2005 or send an email to butterfly7802@excite.com
