As we celebrate Veterans Day tomorrow, and honor those who have so courageously fought for our country, please add an extra special prayer for all of our hamlet’s young men and women who are currently and heroically placing themselves in harm’s way to defend our priceless freedoms.Switching gears, for just a moment, the East Quogue Civic Association will hold its annual meeting this Saturday, November 12, at 10 a.m., in the cafetorium of the East Quogue Elementary School on Central Avenue. Southampton Town Board member John Bouvier will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome to attend this important meeting.

Just in case you missed last week’s column, our East Quogue PTA will host its second annual holiday boutique on Thursday, December 1, from 6 to 9 p.m., in the cafetorium of the school on Central Avenue. If you are a vendor and would like to participate, please visit polarisoffice.com/d/2RQ20trk for an application.

Speaking of fun shopping events, Lucia’s Angels and Southampton Hospital’s Coalition of Women’s Cancers will host “Shop Til You Drop” this Saturday, November 12, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Parrish Memorial Hall located on Herrick Road in Southampton.

I’ll be there with my stained glass, along with a host of talented craftspersons and retailers who will be selling all sorts of goodies from body lotions to jewelry to artisan foods. A Chinese auction, filled with holiday gifts from each of the vendors, will be one of the highlights of the event. Proceeds will support services for local breast cancer survivors. For more information, call Christine at 631-484-6335.

And for more holiday deals, don’t forget that November 26 is Small Business Saturday so mark your iCalendars. Merchants who participate in the event, which is sponsored by American Express, will offer discounts and specially priced items for sale. So, please, plan to shop at our local Main Street stores. I know that our East Quogue business community is always extremely grateful for your support.

Finally, Our Lady of the Hamptons will be celebrating its 35th anniversary. A list of alumni is being compiled for all graduates of the school dating back to 1982. The list will also include graduates of Our Lady of Poland School (1961-1982) and Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (1926-1982). If you are an alumnus, or know of anyone who is, please send their email address or their home address to sks@hamptons.com. You may also send this information by snail mail to Sister Kathy at 160 North Main Street, Southampton, NY 11968.
