Excitement is in the air as our hobgoblins get ready for the annual East Quogue Halloween Parade and the always-awesome Pumpkin Carving Contest. The parade begins at the firehouse on Main Street on Saturday, October 29, at 5:30 p.m., and is followed by the contest at 6 p.m. on the Village Green.

Pumpkins will be judged for the scariest and the funniest, as well as for the most creative and unique. Pumpkin entries will be divided into three age groups: kindergarten through grade three, grade four to six, and adult. Make certain that your carved pumpkin, with a candle, is dropped off at the Village Green between 5 and 6 p.m. After the festivities, the East Quogue Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will have a decorative area available for your own photo-op so that your memories will last forever. Please be sure to bring a camera.

On another note, East Quogue’s very own thespians, Linda Aydinian, Julie Crowley and Kelly Crowley will be appearing in the Riverhead Faculty and Community Theater’s production of “Catch Me If You Can.” The musical is based on the hit DreamWorks film that follows the high-flying adventures of a globetrotting con artist.

The shows will take place at Riverhead High School, located at 700 Harrison Avenue in Riverhead. For show dates and times or to purchase tickets online, please visit rfct.org. Tickets purchased in advance cost $15. Tickets sold at the door cost $20 and student tickets are $5. On Veterans Day, tickets will be free for veterans. (Please bring proof.)
