Edward A. Jones Jr.
Edward A. Jones Jr., of Massachusettsdied at Radius Specialty Hospital in Massachusetts on Sunday, April 17. He was 72.
Born in Salem, Massachusetts to the late Edward A. and Jane Jones (née Troy), he was raised in both Salem and Marblehead. He was a graduate of Marblehead High School Class of 1956 where he was and a member of the hockey team. Following high school, he attended Huntington Preparatory School and received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University in the class of 1961, where he also played on the varsity hockey team. Following college, he served in U.S. Coast Guard as a meteorologist during the early stages of the Vietnam War. He then began a career at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in their national banking division and retired in 1992 from their international banking division.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey and the Royal St. Georges Golf Club in Sandwich, England.
He is survived by his longtime companion, E. Alexandra von Stackelberg; daughter, Lorelei Jane Temple von Stackleberg Jones of Brooklyn; sisters, Kathleen and Barbara Jones, both of Massachusetts; and many cousins.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 21. A memorial service is planned for later this year. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home in Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 would be appreciated by the family.
