Edward B. Joachim, a magistrate in West Hampton Dunes, died on November 9, 2016. He was 89.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and then attended Boston College, and earned a law degree at New York University. He practiced law for nearly 57 years in Nassau and Suffolk counties, with an office in Riverhead and Mineola.
Survivors said he was known for his charm, intellect and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Arline; children, Nancy, Lynne, Jim and wife Olga, Sheryl and husband Greg, and Larry and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Aaron, Benjamin, Samuel, Jessica, Marla, Ilana, Katie, Emily and Michael; and a sister, Winnie Weintraub. He was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa; and a brother, Ira.
