Edward F. Dignus Jr dies at 84

Edward F. Dignus Jr. of Hampton Bays died on April 17. He was 84.

Mr. Dignus attended Mount St. Michael’s High School in the Bronx and subsequently attended Manhattan College. He worked for several years at Spellman’s Marine in Hampton Bays.

He is survived by three daughters, Anne Marie Simmons of Dobbs Ferry, Loretta Dignus of New York City, and Jacqueline Haley of Cazenovia; two sons, Edward Dignus III of Hampton Bays and Rick Dignus of Southampton; a brother, John Dignus of Hampton Bays; and six grandchildren, Melissa and Kelsey Simmons, Michael and Kevin Dignus, Sarah Haley and Holly Ward.

His wife, Jacqueline Anne Dignus, predeceased him.

The family received visitors on April 21 at R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays, with interment to follow immediately at Holy Trinity Cemetery in East Hampton.

Nod to the Past

In deciding to run for reelection as village trustee, I have thought a great deal about what I, as a trustee, have done and can continue to do to preserve and nurture the qualities that make Southampton Village such a special place to live. Refuse Surprises

The Noyac Civic Council once again is proud to have many volunteers join in the Great East End Clean-Up. This year, we had a few different surprises as we picked up the usual trash along Noyac Road. New Jersey Man Arrested After Woman Claims He Set Up a Spy Camera in Bathroom

A New Jersey man was arrested by Southampton Town Police over the weekend and charged with unlawful surveillance after a woman told police she suspected that he had used a remote camera to watch her in the bathroom.
