Edward W.T. Gray III of Remsenburg and Manhattan died on January 17 at North Shore Community Hospital in Manhasset.
The founder, president and CEO of Analytic Asset Management, Mr. Gray was also the founder and board chair of the Countess Moira Charitable Foundation, a founder and former president and CEO of Gray, Seifert and Co., and a senior vice president of the Bessemer Trust Company.
He graduated from Princeton University in New Jersey, the Stonier Graduate School of Banking in Pennsylvania, and the Blair Academy in New Jersey.
A member of Princeton Outreach ’56, he was a former president of the Rotary Club of New York and chair of its foundation. He was a trustee of the Lichtenstein Foundation, a director of the United Nations Association of New York and a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island Investment Advisory Committee.
In addition, he was a former warden and vestryman at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westhampton Beach; director of the Westhampton Yacht Squadron and former director of the Family Counseling Service in Westhampton Beach.
He was also a previous senior warden of St. Luke’s Church and a member of the boards of the Mental Health Resource Center and Salvation Army of Montclair, New Jersey.
He was also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Family members recalled his extensive travel, noting that he had “skied on every continent” and had traveled throughout the 50 states and the world. He was also an avid golfer, sailor, tennis and bridge player and singer. In recent years, he authored four plays, two of which were given staged readings at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.
In addition to his wife, Michele LeMoal-Gray, he is survived by two sons, Taylor Gray and his wife Kathy and Peter Gray and his wife Donna; a daughter, Carolyn and her husband Marc; a sister, Alice; five grandchildren, Brendan, Matthew, Stephen, Jessica and Emily; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Follett & Werner Funeral Home on Mill Road in Westhampton Beach. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30, at noon at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westhampton Beach.
