Eleanor Perine ‘Peri’ Wheeler Bogert of Water Mill died on April 27 at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. She was not in pain at the time of her death, her family said. She was 80.
Known as Peri (a nickname from Perine), she was beloved by all who came in contact with her, her family said.
She was born on November 10, 1940. Before settling in New York City and Water Mill, Ms. Bogert grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and Ipswich, Massachusetts, and later received an associate’s degree from Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
She held in her heart a strong affinity for The Brynn Mawr School in Baltimore, where she spent 11-plus years, as well as her work at the Fresh Air Home for physically disabled children in Southampton, where she served on the board.
Ms. Bogert took thoughtfulness and generosity to elevated art forms, her family said, noting that she was beautiful inside and out and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Lawrence Bogert III of Water Mill; her son Lansing Reed Palmer Jr. and his wife Jennifer and their daughter Rebecca and son William of Cohasset, Massachusetts; her daughter Blair Washington Palmer Wisner and her husband Todd James Waterman Wisner of Rochester, New York.
The family wished to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and memories. This summer, the family will be honoring Ms. Bogert at Brynn Mawr in Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Eleanor Perine Wheeler Bogert to the Southampton Fresh Air Home, sfah.org or 631-283-5847, would be appreciated by the family.
