Former Center Moriches and Westhampton Beach resident Elsie Dudley of Cutchogue died on February 2 at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport. She was 99.
Born March 18, 1910, in Staten Island to Karl and Frances Epple, she worked as an operator for the New York Telephone Company.
Her daughter, Barbara Prestia of Cutchogue, fondly remembered her mother as “a magnet ... people were always drawn to her. It was her smile, her sense of humor and her love and caring for people.”
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by five grandchildren, Madeline Sugrue of California, Vincent Prestia of Manorville, Barbara Nguyen of Manor Park, and Steven Seach and Tanya Bredel, both of Pennsylvania; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Charles Dudley, a daughter, Doris Seach, and a grandson, Gary Seach, predeceased her.
The family received visitors on February 5 at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. Funeral services, presided over by Father Joseph Staudt, were held later that same day. Interment of ashes followed on February 8 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.
