Why should the people of our village pay for lifetime health benefits for the trustees after they have only served in their positions for five years of part-time work?
Mayor Jesse Warren’s resolution to eliminate these current health benefits was put down by Trustees Robin Brown, Bill Manger and Roy Stevenson, who are all running in this election and would be the ones, of course, to benefit most directly from keeping the legislation on the books.
The Village of Westhampton Beach decided that the people of their village should not pay more taxes for similar legislation, and they voted it down. If Bill Manger becomes mayor, he, and Brown and Stevenson as his trustees, will be in the majority and will do whatever they want to keep these benefits for themselves, serving their own personal interest above that of our whole community.
Please vote for Mayor Jesse Warren, Greg Centeno and Palmer Hudson on June 16.

Like many Americans, I am disturbed by the lack of bipartisanship in Congress. Without true bipartisanship we won’t have the mutual listening and compromise that is necessary to have a workable government. This has not gone unnoticed by our local...
An important financial issue facing Congressional District 1 voters is the possible full restoration of the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, which offsets federal tax liability. That tax deduction is now capped at $10,000. From ny.gov: “Under the Trump...
Let me open with: In the past, my choice for candidate has been based on qualification to lead our beloved United States of America. For that reason, my vote was the best one in my mind. I conclude: One candidate...
I am opposed to the small increase in the sales tax for two reasons: It is the most regressive type of taxation and continues a practice of small increases that should be ended. There is no sequester of tax proceeds...
In September 2024, I submitted a Freedom of Information Law request to Southampton Village. I followed up nine times and even filed an administrative appeal with the village administration and/or the Board of Trustees — yet I have not received...
Early voting begins this weekend in Suffolk County. There are many conservative-leaning voters and Republican-identified voters who will go to the polls and feel either a desire or an obligation to vote the party ticket. What I am asking of...
I agree with Rosalyn Jennings [“No Lecture,” Letters, October 17], and her friends, that Kamala Harris can come off sometimes as “lecturing” and that she can sometimes falter under the fairly weighty subjects she is addressing. She is educated, rational...
“Ban Religious Tyranny” [Letters, October 17] was a poor choice of The Press opinion staff for the headline on the Klausners’ letter last week decrying their anger over a despicable anonymous letter they received from a severely misguided individual who...
