Eugene R. Romano Jr.
Eugene R. Romano Jr. of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, formerly of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, and Southampton died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, December 7. He was 67.
Born in Rockville Center, Mr. Romano was the son of Eugene R. Romano Sr. of Southampton and Anita Romano (née Wachtel). A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served as a ship’s diver and fire control technician aboard a submarine. After his discharge, he worked for Univac and retired after 39 years from Unysis as director of global services.
Mr. Romano was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Pennsylvania, where he served as a Grand Knight in the Father James Devlin Council, and a Faithful Navigator in the Archbishop Wood Assembly. He was also on the Parish Council at St. Jude Church in Chalfont, served as treasurer at the Farmers Union Horse Company and as president of the Pinecrest Homeowners Association. An avid golfer, reader and Civil War history buff, Mr. Romano enjoyed the beach and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife Barbara Romano (née Vesely); children, Jason S. Romano and his wife Michele, and Beth A. Romano, all of Pennsylvania; siblings, Dennis Romano, Linda Wetter, Nancy Winters, Anita Romano, Andrea Romano, Catherine Romano and Yvonne Watterson; and two grandchildren, Dylan and Grace Romano.
A funeral Mass was held on Monday, December 12, at St. Jude Church in Chalfont. Interment followed at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
