Fender Bender Snarls Morning Traffic On Sunrise Highway In Hampton Bays

An apparent fender bender snarled traffic on Sunrise Highway Tuesday morning.

Details were unavailable.

“We’re still working on the investigation,” said Lieutenant Jose Febo of the New York State Police.

It appears a bus was rear-ended going over the Shinnecock Canal in Hampton Bays. State Police could offer no time or exact nature of the accident, but said the scene had been cleared by 9 a.m.

Southampton Town Police were first on the scene, but the State Troopers were the lead agency. A call came in at 7:18 a.m., and one lane was closed until 8:55 a.m.; which lane is still unclear. Three vehicles — a pickup truck, a landscaping truck and a bus — were involved, with three injuries reported.
