The Village of Southampton Department of Public Works has been aware of the numerous potholes on Hill Street in recent weeks. At 1 inch deep on a roadway with a posted speed of 25 mph, they were more an annoyance than a safety hazard. We had been in discussion with our paving company for repairs in this area.
As I write this, repairs are being made for the winter, with a more permanent strip pave to be completed in the spring. The work is being done under warranty so that there is no further cost to our village.
For all the concerned residents who contacted our office, I thank you for your patience.
Gary J. Goleski
