Three occupants of an East Quogue home were able to escape unharmed after the house on Bayside Avenue caught fire Tuesday afternoon, May 23.
The single-family home sustained significant damage, according to Public Safety Administrator Ryan Murphy. He said wind was a factor in fueling the fire.
Southampton Town Police were called to the scene of a structure fire at 1:47 p.m. on Tuesday. Additional volunteer fire departments from Hampton Bays, Quogue, Riverhead, Flanders and Southampton were called in to assist, and Westhampton Ambulance responded to stand by. Fire marshals and Southampton Town Police detectives responded as well.
Bayside Avenue was closed briefly due to the heavy presence of emergency vehicles. No injuries have been reported.
The scene was cleared at around 4:30 p.m.
