Was anyone truly surprised by the boorishness and complete lack of civility and courtesy by far too many in the gallery at last weekend’s Ryder Cup? After all, the fish stinks from the head: For an event that prides itself on honesty, integrity and good sportsmanship to invite and then embrace, in some cases literally, the most notorious and shameless golf cheat on the planet delivered a reassuringly toxic message to the uncouth louts in the crowd.
While stopping short of citing the Euro victory as only the latest example of ETTD (“everything Trump touches dies”), if the result wasn’t inevitable, it was certainly fitting.
