Bridgehampton native Florence Hedges Lanz of Dallas, Georgia, and formerly of Niverville, New York, died on October 6 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. She was 71.
Born in Bridghampton on November 12, 1936, she was the daughter of Miriam (née Fickeissen) and Allen Hedges. She worked at Valatie Savings and Loan in Valatie before retiring to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
In addition to her mother, Miriam Hedges of Bridgehampton, she is survived by a daughter, Laurie Lanz of Niverville; a son, Edward Lanz of Georgia; two sisters and their husbands, Ruth Ann and Frederick Guyer of Bridgehampton, and Margaret and Lenard Makowski of Jamesport; six brothers and their wives, John and Christine Hedges of Arizona, Thomas William and Barbara Hedges of Arizona, Eugene and Caroline Hedges of Washington, David and Denise Hedges of Texas, Albert and Dorothy Hedges of Bridgehampton and Edwin Hedges of Bridgehampton; a granddaughter, Melissa D. Lanz of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert F. Lanz Jr., her father, Allen Hedges, and a sister-in-law, Helen Hedges.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home in Dallas, Georgia. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 3 p.m. at the Bridgehampton United Methodist Church.
