Florence Matyas Of Hampton Bays Dies November 27

Florence Matyas of Hampton Bays died at home on November 27. She was 94.

Matyas was born in Elmont, New York, to Peter and Florence Singer. She graduated from Sewanhaka High School and went on to work for the New York Telephone Company. She met and married Peter Maytas Jr. in 1947 and they were married for 72 years before his death.

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; and is survived by her children, Lillian (Robert) of Hampton Bays, Linda (Kenneth) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Peter III (Stacey) of Warren, Rhode Island; and two grandsons, Peter and Ryan.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 2, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the R. J. O’Shea Funeral Home, 94 East Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, followed by a interment in Calverton National Cemetery.
