The Stony Brook University FoodLab is offering a workshop series about the immune system. “Power Up Your Immune System: Nature’s Way” workshop series begins on Sunday, January 12, and continues each Sunday through March 16, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Stony Brook Southampton campus.
The series, presented by nutritionist Nadia Ernestus, is a comprehensive program designed to educate attendees on the benefits of raw foods and natural remedies in supporting the immune system. Each session combines theoretical insights with practical demonstrations, providing participants with the tools to incorporate these practices into their daily lives.
The opening workshop on Sunday, January 12, is “Stay Healthy With Fermented Foods,” in which how probiotic-rich sauerkraut and kimchi can support gut and immune health will be discussed. Subsequent workshops are “Green Smoothies for Staying Strong” on January 19; “Nourishing Salads To Power Up Your Defenses” on January 26; “Herbs in Cooking and Teas for Immune Resilience” on February 2; “Raw Sweets That Support Immunity” on February 23; “Dressings and Marinades for a Healthy Immune System,” March 2; “On-the-Go Snacks for Immune Support,” March 9; “Salsas and Dips for Staying Well,” March 16.
