Former Hampton Bays resident Fred Aschberg of Bay Shore died on September 2 at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. He was 83.
For many years Mr. Aschberg worked as an assembly line worker for the Association for the Help of Retarded Children in Bohemia. In addition, he specialized in working with radios and electronics.
He is survived by an uncle, John Peter Strecker of Hampton Bays; and two cousins, Kenneth Strecker and his wife Mary and Mark Strecker and his wife Maryann, all of Hampton Bays.
A funeral service was held on September 5 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays, with the Reverend Earl Rey of the Hampton Bays Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment of ashes will be at Fresh Pond Cemetery.
