Ronald J. Mayer
Former Hampton Bays resident Ronald J. Mayer of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Babylon Village died on October 6 at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. He was 67.
Mr. Mayer was an entrepreneur in banking, finance and real estate. In his younger years, he was an accomplished athlete and played trumpet in the Newport Jazz Festival. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was lead trumpet in the United States Coast Guard Band. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and golf, and survivors recalled him as strong willed and spirited and as a dedicated businessman.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mayer; two sons and their wives, Michael T. and Andrea J. Mayer and Ronald C. and Michele Mayer; a brother, Peter Mayer III; and four grandchildren, Sophia, Sarah, Taylor and Ashley.
Visitation was on October 8 at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held on October 9 at St. Joseph’s Church in Babylon. Interment followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 125 West 31st Street, New York, NY 10001 would be appreciated by the family.
