Vincent F. Naro
Vincent F. Naro, former justice of the Supreme Court of New York State, died surrounded by his family, on Monday, April 18. He was 86.
Mr. Naro was born in Corona on August 26, 1924. He attended college at Georgetown University and graduated from New York Law School 1952. He was a devout Catholic, serving loyally at his parish in Bayside, Queens, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, and later at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays.
He was introduced to his wife Ellen by his sister-in-law, and they married 50 years ago on April 29 at the Resurrection Ascension Church in Elmhurst, with a reception at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. He and his family first came to Hampton Bays in the 1960s, and became full-time residents in 1993.
Mr. Naro sat on the bench in Queens County Criminal Court from 1975 until his retirement in 2000. Prior to his election to the State Supreme Court, he was a Civil Court judge, an assistant district attorney, and an attorney at his family’s law firm in Jackson Heights.
He was a avid golfer and was always the first one out on the course in the morning.
In addition to his wife Ellen, Mr. Naro is survived by his children, Thomas Naro and Lisa Grimaldi; grandson, Matthew Landrum and great-granddaughter, Angelina Rose Landrum.
A funeral mass was held at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays on Thursday, April 21. Interment followed at Good Ground Cemetery, also in Hampton Bays.
