Laura L. Smith, formerly of Southampton, died at her home in Randolph, Utah, from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 59.
Ms. Smith was born in Bridgehampton in 1957 and graduated from Southampton High School. She went on to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and worked in several restaurants in New York, California, Utah and Wyoming, and was well known for her catering.
Survivors said she was a loyal friend to people as well as pets. She loved camping, and served as a summer campground host for many years.
She is survived by her parents, Leonard and Elyse Smith; her brother’s family, J.B. and Tina Smith, and their son, Dakota, all of Ogden, Utah.
There will be no service and her ashes will be spread at her favorite lake near Randolph, per her wishes.
