Richard J. Norton
Richard J. Norton of Cincinnatus, New York, formerly of Southampton, died on Friday, June 22, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse after becoming ill at home. He was 68.
Born in Binghamton on January 7, 1944, he was the son of Leo and Stella Nabywaniec Norton. Prior to moving to Cincinnatus, he was a police officer for the Town of Southampton, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a former member of South Otselic No. 659 Free and Accepted Masons.
Mr. Norton is survived by his wife of 20 years, Yvonne Howard Norton; a daughter, Bernadette Flynn and her husband Michael of Long Island; stepchildren, Cindy Hogg and her husband David of Florida, Robert Braatz and his wife Julie of Louisiana, Lara Pizzanelli and Robin Pizzanelli and their families, all of Long Island; a sister, Leona McEntee and her husband Jerry of Apalachin; and a nephew, John McEntee of Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kevin Norton, in 1992 and a nephew, Alan McEntee in 2010.
A memorial service will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home in Cincinnatus on Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.
