The fourth annual Southampton Pickleball Club’s Heart of the Hamptons Tournament will take place next Sunday, October 13, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tournament, which features double tandems, still has spots open with less than two weeks to go.

Once again hosted by Southampton Youth Services, the tournament will continue to benefit Heart of the Hamptons during its most needy time of the year. Located in Southampton Village for more than 42 years, Heart of the Hamptons has helped out those in need as a food pantry and an emergency assistance outreach program. Last year’s tournament raised over $12,500, a number that has increased each year.

Vinny Mangano, the acting USA Pickleball ambassador for the East End who runs the Southampton Pickleball Club and therefore the tournament, said there will continue to be six divisions: Women’s doubles-novice-3.0, Women’s doubles-3.5+, Mixed doubles-novice-3.0, Mixed doubles-3.5+, Men’s doubles-novice-3.0 and Men’s doubles 3.5+. The divisions will be playing in that order, which is done so if someone is playing in women’s doubles they won’t have to wait to play in mixed doubles if they happen to be playing in that also.

If everything goes according to plan, Mangano said there should continue to be about 10 teams per bracket that will rotate every 10 minutes. Whoever has the most points at the end of the 10 minutes will be the winner. Typically pickleball matches are played up to a certain number of points, but the timed-theme allows for everyone to get in the same amount of matches.

Registration is open at events.elitefeats.com/24pickleball. Players can sign up for two events, but only one T-shirt will be given out per player. When signing up for two events, players are asked to please click “no shirt” for the second registration.

Those who cannot attend the tournament but would like to make a donation or purchase raffle tickets can do so on the same registration website. Raffle tickets will be filled out the day of and entered.

The current schedule lines up as the following, barring any changes:

Women’s Doubles-Novice-3.0, from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m.

Women’s Doubles-3.5+, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Mixed Doubles-Novice-3.0, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Mixed Doubles-3.5+, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Men’s Doubles 3.5+, from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.

An extra time slot of 3 to 4 p.m. will be added on a needed basis.
