Frank Sofo of East Hampton died on January 16. He was 80.
He was a long-time board member of Artist’s Alliance of East Hampton and co-founder of the Wednesday Group Plein Air painters.
After a long career in advertising, he retired to Springs and continued to paint. He illustrated many books, including Nancy Drew covers, was the cover artist for Dan’s Papers numerous times and self-published and illustrated his own children’s books.
He is survived by his wife Vincenza; daughter Michele; four grandchildren; his sister Linda; and numerous relatives.
There will be a celebration of his life and works, “Remembering Frank,” at Ashawagh Hall, 780 Springs Fireplace Road, on Saturday and Sunday, February 24-25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday prayers will be at 3:30 p.m. and a reception will follow from 4-7 p.m. A reception on Sunday will be from 2–4 p.m.
