Fred Henry Weber Of Southampton Dies March 15

Fred Henry Weber of Southampton died on March 15. He was 95.

Born on November 5, 1920, in Brooklyn, he was the son of Frederic and Katherine Weber. He grew up in Jamaica, Queens, and raised his own family in Syosset. He attended Stevens Institute of Technology and received a degree in mechanical engineering in 1942. He served from 1943 to 1946 in the U.S. Navy as the engineering officer on the destroyer USS Champlin in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific theaters. He worked for the Babcock & Wilcox Co. and Foster Wheeler Corp. in New York City and held several patents in boiler design. He was licensed as a professional engineer in the State of New York in 1951.

In 1968, he and Eric Grahn formed Weber & Grahn Heating and Air Conditioning in Hampton Bays, for the design, installation and service of heating and air conditioning equipment. He retired from the business in 1987 and started an engineer consulting practice in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing fields. He was a life member of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers.

He served as a trustee and elder of the Southampton Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Weber is survived by his wife, Joan; a daughter, Nancy Phillips; and a son, Frederick Weber and wife Carol; three grandchildren, Daniel Phillips, William Weber and Alexander Weber; and a great-granddaughter, Anaya Phillips.

Visitation took place at the Brockett Funeral home and services were held at the Southampton Presbyterian Church on March 21. Interment was with military honors at Southampton Cemetery.
