Fredrick A. Highland Dies At 51

Fredrick A. Highland

Fredrick A. Highland of Southampton, died at Good Shepherd Hospice Center at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson on Thursday, May 26. He was 51.

Mr. Highland was born January 27, 1960, in Riverhead, and loved nature, animals and his many friends.

He is survived by his mother, Alice Daugherty of Virginia; son, Talen Gelzer of East Quogue; siblings, Patricia Gurstong of Ackron and Mickey Highland of Oregon, Tony Highland of Texas and Brian Highland of Pennsylvania; his partner, Tim Holman of Southampton; close friends, Danielle Gelzer and Terri Gann, Debby Marcucci, Sam Feeney and Rod Apiolaza; 117 cousins; and 11 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Marine Highland and his brother Patrick Highland.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, June 1, at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays. Arrangements were under the direction of J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a college fund for Mr. Highland’s son, Talen, may be sent in care of MTC Security Co., P.O. Box 1706, East Quogue 11942.

A simple fact about the SALT deductions is being obscured with Nick Lakota’s statements in the news. If the 2017 tax rules expire, residents will once again be able to deduct 100 percent of their state and local taxes.
